We were up in Marlow in Buckinghamshire on Boxing Day. Walking along the Thames path, upstream of Marlow, I made this picture of Bisham Church across the river. It was a cold, damp day; utterly grey under an undifferentiated, thick layer of cloud. But there was just about no wind, and the river surface was still, only disturbed by occasional great crested grebes diving to fish as they passed by on the current. The smooth water showed up reflections across the other side of the river as clearly as you are ever likely to find them. This image, for me, is completely timeless.
